Telemarketing Imperial Majesty Cruise Lines, bogus offer?
Normally I won’t do a telephone survey, but this one opened up with an emphatic, “You will receive two free boarding passes for just ten questions” and supposedly it would only take a minute to answer. What I didn’t know is that my “captain” hangs up on renters, making me wonder if he’s really my captain at all, or just some robocaller looking for demographic data for future offers of refinancing home loans.
For those with flash installed, have a listen:
Yes, that abrupt ending is them hanging up. Here’s a transcript (with my comments on the recording omitted):

thanks for the comment on my blog. it’s a sad day when the telemarketers start hanging up… but it does make a cool blog entry. have a good Sunday.
Do you know if they called your GC number or your cell? If they called your cell, than DNC would protect you if they used an auto-dialer. However, I’m not sure how the DNC registry applies to VoIP.
They never hung up on me when i pressed renter. \I don’t know but they sent me to some website and apparently i got the boarding passes. I will let you know what happens after that since i just recieved the call like 5 mins ago
Okay so i went to the website they told me to and entered my info and i got the cruise but i live in bc and it leaves from florida.

I got one of those calls today. Be thankful they hung up on you! They are one of those fly-by-night vacation “deals.” A scam.
What got me curious was the way they used the term “boarding passes.” Why didn’t they just say “cruise?” I was wondering if you literally just get a boarding pass (a piece of paper) but there’s no actual cruise involved.
No, that’s not it, but the real story is even worse! Just put something like “Imperial Majesty Cruise Line Phone Survey” into Google.com. That will save me a lot of typing. Not that everything anyone reports is gospel truth either but notice the stories being told have a ring of truth to them.
Some people actually did end up on an aging rust bucket (luxury cruise ship) to nowhere and a flea bag motel (”luxury hotel”) and it gets even worse. Someone had a hand out for money at every step.
Oh, and someone forgot to mention that you have to sit through several high pressure sales pitches for “timeshares.” More than one!
I recommend that anyone who gave them a credit card number or paid for something take steps to try to get your money back and failing that (and that will probably fail) contact the credit card for a “chargeback.” (get your money back). And certainly if you haven’t given them a credit card number or any money, don’t!
Always remember, when someone offers you something free then wants your credit card number to pay for the “free” thing, that’s a sign of trouble.
I just recieved a call while resting in bed….thought ok I will do this just to see what happens…….I got to the part of it returning to the automated voice giving a web site to go to. I missed it so I got up to call the # on my caller ID…..they had no clue as to what I was talking about. I asked to speak to a supervisor was then placed on hold for 10 min and once the staff member returned to the phone he said a supervisor was not avail…..I said I would wait until one was and that this was fishy and I was going to turn them into the BBB if they did not help me…….anyhow the # is 808-783-9321 stating they are Virgin Mobile…….hmmmmmmmm. something was not right……I guess it is true you don’t get something for nothing! I guess I will go back to bed:)
TO BE PUT ON THE DON’T CALL LIST:
Call 888-217-2620.
Ask for customer service, and tell them to put you on their ‘don’t-call’ list’. According to them they will no longer call me after requesting this…. we’ll see if they keep their word…
yeah they tried me too. notice they make sure you have a credit card first thing as it is THE ONLY WAY to pay the “port taxes” you say yes and then they know to continue the scam where they tried to get it from you 20 minutes and 2 vacations to mexico later.
i did the survey thing…n all they said was i will be contacted in the next 72 hours for my prize…just gonna have to wait n see i guess..aha

Hey Guys
I was a little bit nastier an more persistant with the reps. Anyways long story short after about 30 something calls to my house I lost it… I did some diging and found the owner of this supposed outfit. His name is Mansure and the phone number is 1-866-947-7469.
Just thought that any of you wanting to get even may appreciate this number.
Oh ya, I am calling every single commerce and BBB board that I can find to let the know.
Sorry I could not upload the audio, but I actually have recordings where they are swearing at me and telling me that the harrasing phone calls will keep comming at one in the morning until I give them my visa number. LOL . . . sure that will make me give you my number (sarcastic)
Matthew
damn americans think we are so stupid lol, sorry that sh*t doesn’t fly in our country
I also got a call saying that “this is your captain and you just won 2 boarding passes.”I was also asked where I grocery shop, where I buy my drugs, and is anyone on insulin.” I think that they are all on drugs at this company.” What the h *** does this have to do with going on a cruise?
So I just got my call and I was all excited. I am glad I checked on here first because it did sound kind of funny that I would win anything. Free, yeah right. Well I am prepared for them now and will record the messeges. So if we all get involved in a harrassment case later in life…We should all get together and jump on a real-Carnival or Royal cruise or something after we win the case. HAHAHAHA!
my comfirmation # is 3505290809652
just for GQ.. Thanx all
We’ll we’ve booked it and we will see.
Regardless, $500 buck plus airfair got me a short cruise trip, hotel vacation in Orland and a trip to Vegas. Doesn’t sound that bad?
I’ve cruise several times and yes, the ship isn’t as pretty as some. Hotel on the web seems standard to most and ok 1 session on a time share…
Maybe i am a different breed but nothing ventured nothing gained or lost.
It’s easy enough when it’s over to tell them no to the timeshare or hang up when they call.
Just my thoughts:)
I keep getting this call all the way over here in England. WHAT THE FK and I get charged for receiving an international call despite us being on the national do not call register. Sonbitchez.
ok i bought the ’scam’ paid 59 bucks per person..so it was 118 for me and my husband for just the port taxes..drove to florida to port everglades and went on a 3 day 2 might cruise to the bahamas…no hassle at all. all of our meals were included. the only thing that we were not impressed with, was having to buy oour own liquor…but we did have a blast for only one hundred and eighteen dollars!
the only two people on here who claim to have gone on the trip are women. interesting.
hmmmmmmmmmmmm.
i just got the call and anyone who thinks that a company is honest when it approaches you in such a manner is retarded.
As someone who answers the phone all day at work, I hate the scammers who waste my time. So I figure it’s only fair to waste their time, too! I took the survey, giving false info all the way through (I own a time-share, but have no health insurance, didn’t finish high school but make more than $70, 000 a year). When the operator came on, I gave my name as “Amanda Hugnkiss.” Two days later, they called for Amanda, and I let the guy ramble on for 12 minutes before I said I wouldn’t give a credit card number without a written guarantee, and that Google shows scam alert after scam alert. Without my prompting, the guy offered to get me a manager, to which I agreed. Then I put the phone on hold and never picked it back up. Ahhh, it feels so good to scam the scammers!
I checked out the Imperial Majesty Cruise Line Vacations at the Better Business Bureau (BBB) website and discovered that the BBB gave the company a rating of a “F.” Also the BBB reported that the company has 1,139 complaints reported, with 299 complaints indicating that the company did not make a full refund as the consumer requested. There were also 570 complaints made because the company did not agree to perform according to their contract. I would not trust any free cruise claims from this company.
Thank you to whoever posted the number to call for the “Don’t call list”
I called and asked to be put on that and the girl asked me “Why? what were you told?” Have you purchased a package?” and I said “No, and I don’t in tend to, I know it’s a scam” and she was quiet for a while and then said “Okay…” in a weird tone of voice. I had BETTER not get calls at 1:00am like some of the people on here are talking about! man i hope it’s all over now.
actually ;[ so sad..but very true CANADIANS are our best buyers!! thanks so much thanks so much! and it is not a scam…a 7 day vacation for 400 bucks? give it up people give it up
So I guess the person above works for Imperial Majesty Cruise and they are pretty much saying that canadians are suckers for scams. The thing about the $400 dollar vacation is that they are trying to sell you on it when originally it was all supposed to be FREE, which means they are LIARS. Why would anyone want to sign up for anything with a liar? That is how you get shafted!
I didn’t get the phone call. I guess they have changed it to mailing you the info. You win a free 2 night cruise to Nassau, Bahamas and vacation package and all you pay are the port charges and taxes. So I called and it cost 99.00 per person(port charge). Then they tell you that the vacation package is $698 for two, which is not free. They ask what credit card you would like to use, and when I asked what for, I was told for the $698 dollars. Then I said so technically it isn’t free. Judi responded and said that the cruise was and it was only $99 a person, but the vacation was very cheap at only $349 per person. I told them I needed to speak with someone before making a spur the moment purchase and then I was told they would c what they could do. A supervisor got on the phone all excited and then told me she would throw in another vacation deal, but I would still be paying the $698 up front. I knew it was a scam! So said I wasn’t interested and they said have a good day and hung up. It all sounded too good to be true. NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION OR SOCIAL SECURITY CARD INFORMATION TO SOMEONE WHO CALLS YOU. This company had too many complaints online for me to do anything with them. Good luck to anyone who did give them credit card info.
Wow! I just received this call and googled to see what I could find** During the call, I answered the question to see what was going to happen. Once I got to the point where I spoke with a “live person”, I started asking them questions. I asked how they got my number (It was picked at random, I was told) I was told then that a travel agent would be contacting me and asked if the number they called was the best one to reach me. So I asked was this a telemarketing company—dead silene! She hung up on me! I knew it was a bunch of crap- nobody calls me at *work* on my direct line but my children and husband. I am kind of glad they called though, because I was falling asleep. I’m pretty sure they would have been made at me when they found out I lied about having credit cards!
I had a posh Imperial Majesty Cruise Line Vacations voucher through the post with no phone call, Ihad to call them within 72 hours to get an extra 7 day bonus vacation to Vegas and Mexico. We (my hubby and I ) read it all and was impressed but a couple of things stuck out in the ‘terms and conditions’ when it said, surcharges and port taxes not included, however, the whole voucher bit aid free on eveything so when I phoned them, they spent 30 minutes on telling me what I had already read in the voucher details, it also gave us $1300 to spend by the way, and then he says he needs a major credit card, I said what for he said the package is discounted, normally $3000 but the deal is we pay $700 between us for the package, I told him I had no cards they were at the office with my husband just up the road and I had to take my golf cart to get them, he said he would wait, lol can you believe it? well I don’t have to tell you what I did, yes, cut him off! what a waste of our tiime.

Guess what… if an offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is. A few notes on the Imperial Majesty Cruise Lines “flagship”. It was built in 1953, and it’s about 5 times smaller than a modern cruise ship with a similar passenger capacity. Caveat emptor.
I just got the posh vouchers in the mail as well. I called the number on the voucher, not knowing anything about this scam. I called and asked many questions to “Johnny” TM 3501. He assures me that if it was a scam they wouldn’t be able to send it through federal mail, and that there is a license number listed in the terms and conditions. After deciding to hear more, I sat there and listened to this man babble on and on about the cruise for 30 mins. At the end he said the cruise would cost $399.00 per person plus a $99.00 per person port charge to be paid 60 Days before we plan to go. He said we had 18 months to decide when we wanted to go, but I HAD to pay the $798 up front! Then he asked me for my credit card number. I told him it wasn’t going to happen, that I couldn’t afford to load $800 on my cc ( not at all true) He proceeds to put me on hold and grab his supervisor. She comes on the phone all chipper, gives me an extra 3 vacations, free meals in Florida ( I thought they were already free) and an upgrade to a room with windows! I still said no, and she said she could take off the free 3 vacations and we could pay only $299 per person plus the $99.00. I still said we couldn’t afford it, and she offered for me to pay $299.00 up front and the other $299 and $99×2 60 days before we want to take our trip (they need 60 days notice) I said no once again. She got very upset! “HAVE A GREAT DAY!” ***CLICK***
