Wright on every channel, but where’s Parsley?
It’s been a week of every major media outlet replaying (and replaying and replaying) Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s “God Damn America” sermon. Liberal bloggers have been complaining about the hypocrisy of the whole thing. Specifically, in all the coverage of Obama’s pastor, precious little airtime has been devoted to McCain’s own spiritual advisor and nutcase, Rod Parsley, who believes that America was founded to combat Islam. I’m guessing Wright’s version of American history won’t make the cut for HBO’s John Adams.
Anyway, I had a draft going about preachers in general and Obama’s response to the scandal, but then two things happened:
- Devilstower wrote a nice piece on the topic that covers what I wanted to discuss.
- Obama announced plans to give a speech on race, politics, and unity tomorrow.
In light of that, I’ll hold off until tomorrow.
Update: Apparently, John McCain “aggressively” sought the endorsement of Reverend Hagee, his other crazy spiritual adviser.
