Lawrence Lessig on the Change Congress movement (inspiring)
Lawrence Lessig, Professor of Law at Stanford Law School and founder of the school’s Center for Internet and Society, launched the Change Congress movement this week. Their goal? No more money from corporate political action committees and lobbyists. No more earmarks to fund pet projects in federal spending bills. Public financing for all congressional campaigns. And throughout it all, transparency. It aint easy getting people to care about the process of lawmaking, rather than the substance, but Professor Lessig makes a good case. Before I started law school, Lessig’s books had a big impact on me. “Inspiring” is the right word. It’s just a shame that he’s not running for Congress.
