McCain fans attempt to be inspirational, hilarity ensues [tonedeaf]

I had occassion today to think of that inspiring “Yes We Can” music video will.i.am (of the Black Eyed Peas) put together with the likes of Scarlett Johansen, John Legend, Herbie Hancock, and others. It captured that moment so many of us felt watching the Obama campaign, that moment when millions of us, disillusioned and skeptical, dropped our guard and embraced a message of hope, a message of yes we can.

Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity.
Yes we can heal this nation.
Yes we can repair this world.

Now, the McCain fans have put together a response, a music video that can unite America around their candidate. I promise you’ll enjoy this video, if you haven’t seen it already. It’s phenomenally terrible. So terrible that some have speculated it can only be the creation of a plot by Democrats to embaress McCain. You be the judge. My favorite part is when they smother tiny McCains on their faces. Hallelujah.

I almost let this post end without mentioning the now-famous Hillary 4 U and Me video, which I’m sure you’ll agree is not funny at all.

My favorite passage is when she sings…

“I’m going to go out, and get myself, absolutely John McCain!”

For it suggests that John McCain is not only a candidate, he’s also a condition - a state of ecstasy.

It was like going out to get laid. Or drunk. Or rowdy.

It’s not just a condition of peaceful happiness.

Like, “How you doin’, Jenny?”
“I’m feeling pretty John McCain, Tom.”

It’s more like, “Dude - are you okay? You look kind of burnt out.”

“Yeah, well, it was worth it. I got all types of John McCain last night.”
