State of the Blog II
Time again for our week-and-halfly roundup:
- Sam reports on the Orange Juice fiasco and gave us a nice background. Hunter also writes about it. He finds it stupid that the media accuses Obama of Elitism for ordering orange juice at a diner, and not just a little stupid:
It is stupid. It is aggressively stupid; it is soul-burrowingly stupid; it is mind-fuckingly stupid. It is the kind of stupid that seeps into the rug so that the entire building stinks of stupid for the next ten years whenever the air conditioning comes on. It is the kind of stupid that wounds all those who come into contact with it. It is a stupid that has been rendered physical: it leaves a scar.
- Meanwhile, everyone’s bitter about Bittergate. I haven’t weighed in on Bittergate yet–as I wait for inspiration on something to contribute. If you haven’t been following it, the candidate who reported taxable income of 110 million dollars is calling the candidate raised by a single mother “elitist,” because he suggested that people who have been screwed by the Washington aren’t happy about it. Steve has nice coverage here, here, and here. Katie has a nice yes I’m bitter piece. If you want to read an awesome response from the former Secretary of Labor (and you do), check out Robert Reich’s Obama, Bitterness, Meet the Press, and the Old Politics.
- Matt discusses pirates (and inspires me to add a piracy policy to the footer).
- Ralph wrote about the weakest link, but because it’s not a politics blog he passed on the opportunity to say,
Hillary, you are the weakest link. Goodbye.
- Vicki shows us an example of how true friends redline and makes me wish I had true friends and/or more four-colored pens.
If I left you out this time, I apologize! I’m a little rushed. Give it a week or so, send me your favorite post, and I’ll make sure it gets in the roundup next time.

Oh the four colored pens. Of course. How could I forget them?

Of all the difficulties I thought I’d have to deal with in my life, one of the least expected ones remains pirates. Didn’t Cap’n Crunch deal with this (or was it Soggies)?
