State of the Blog III

Somewhere in the Blogosphere…

  • Bitchin’ Matt Funk pitchin’ kitchen sink sunk. Say that five times fast. Matt sounds optimistic about tomorrow’s primary. I’m a little nervous about reports of Clinton’s internal polling that predict an 11-point lead.
  • Sam points out that even those few questions from the ABC debate that appeared to be policy-related (very few) were off-base in Charles Gibson Wrong. Gibson has some mistaken beliefs about the way capital gains taxes affect the economy. Sam also has a picture of Pat Robinson that reminds me of Brazil. Can you identify which one is Pat?
  • Steve writes passionately about how, just one night after his girlfriend dumped him, Barack Obama made a speech in Iowa, and Steve jumped into a rebound relationship with America. He’s also got the latest scary ads from the campaigns.
  • Vicki Forman has some thoughts on blogging. Among them, she argues that posting pictures of socks does not contradict advocating for her son. But Vicki, if that is so, how do you reconcile my belief that Howard Dean has done a good job for the Democratic party with the picture at the right? That’s almost a sock puppet there and look how angry Dean is at it. How do you explain this?

Meanwhile, at Overbreadth

  • Welcome Douglas Adams Fans: Saturday was a record day for the Blog, with 17,247 visitors! Most of them were just stopping by to see the captcha gag, but we’re delighted some subscribed.
  • Want to write for Overbreadth? I’m extending an open invitation for guest writers. I’ll post guidelines soon (and then try to follow them myself), but basically I’m looking for original, easy-to-read, snark. Cross-posting is fine. Some design changes are coming to accommodate this (e.g., say farewell to my face in the header). If you’re interested, send me an email, cam [dot] fred [@] gmail, and set up an account here.
  • What’s in a category name? Still looking to distinguish between the politics mega sites and what I view as my inner circle of political sites. I called them majors and minors before, but that seemed a bit derogatory. Now they’re called A and B, but that’s not very descriptive. Any ideas?

Oop. I forgot Deborah. If you have a moment, go check out the Pajama Journalist.

The problem is that he is holding the sock (puppet). Socks (and sock puppets) are best shown in isolation.

Why not call the sites “innie’s” and “out’ies”. Or is that too weird?
