State of the Blog IV
by Cameron
From the Diaries…
- MC Funk has done some nice pieces recently on the top ten things that can hurt Obama, exhaustion, and General Petraeus. See more at his blog, driving too fast.
- Matt K. (our other Matt and resident “Clintonista”) posted a diary that argues that Obama isn’t winning, setting off a debate in the comments, in which I demonstrate that I suck as an impartial moderator.
- Steve Johnson, of Vertical Politics fame, submitted a diary urging people to stop suggesting that Obama cannot close the deal.
- I plan to implement features to make the promotion of diaries to the main feed more democratic, but for the moment, I’ll continue my practice of basing decisions on the results of a magic eight ball.
From the political blogroll…
- Steve is going to take a week off from blogging, inspired in part by the depressing mess Jeremiah Wright is creating for Obama as he puts his ego above the needs of his parishioners, the black church, and the nation.
- MCFunk and the Pajama Journalist have posts spreading the word about Clinton’s push-polling, here and here. MCFunk also has a piece about Obama’s press conference regarding Jeremiah Wright.
- Samuel B. discusses a response to criticism by Brian Williams about campaign coverage. He also found for us a nice excerpt of a McCain quiz in the New Yorker. (Test your knowledge of who McCain has cussed at lately.)
From the land outside politics…
- Vicki purchased a new calculator. I still prefer my Friden Model STW-10 Electro-Mechanical Calculator. It’s fully automatic!
- Southpark is now releasing, via their website, every episode in full. They’ve uncensored the cursing and, if I’m not mistaken, Kenny is much easier to understand.
- Grand Theft Motherfuckin’ Auto IV. This week. (Actually, I’m not going to buy it for fear of its impact on my work, but friends? I promise to bring beer if you’ll let me crash on your couch.)
And in Overbreadth-related news…
- I’m working on a major redesign of the site (much more magazine-ish), but the progress has been slowed by the demands of my real job. Expect the redesign in about a week. (Unfortunately, traffic has slowed as I’ve turned my attention from writing and promoting posts to redesigning the site. Back on track soon.)
- If you’re interested in posting here, do so. You can register and submit a piece in the sidebar. More features for reader-submitted pieces will be added after this week’s redesign is pushed live.

New design, can’t wait. I always forget your programming experience, until I watch this blog evolve.
